My Sweet Lie
Nejat, a successful advertising executive, lives happily with his daughter Kayra. His wife walked out on them when Kayra was a baby and Nejat, not able to share the truth about Kayras mom’s disappearance, created an elaborate story about her mom being away but returning one day on Kayras birthday. Nejat even went as far as to send letters and cards posing as Kayras mom, unsure how to reveal the truth to his daughter. One day, while scouting locations for a commercial, he finds a cake shop run by Suna, who initially mistakes him for a property speculator and shoos him away. When she learns his true intentions, she feels remorseful and decides to bake a cake for Nejat. She takes it to his home, arriving during Kayra’s birthday party. Kayra mistakenly believes Suna to be her mother, and Nejat, unable to disappoint her, goes along with it, worsening the lies, digging himself into a deeper hole.
