Brave and Beautiful breaks new ground in the Far East

Mar 28, 2018

Already sold to over 60 territories around the world, NTV7 (Malaysia), HTV7 (Vietnam) and ABS CBN (Philippines) become the latest channels to pick up what is fast becoming one of Eccho Rights' top selling Turkish Dramas of all time.

Brave and Beautiful also recently debuted on Mega in Chile, and has been scoring an average 25% share, with double the number of viewers of its closest rival in the afternoon slot.

“Brave and Beautiful has fulfilled every expectation we had from a powerful producer like Ay Yapim, and the amazing acting talent they assembled,” says Fredrik af Malmborg, Managing Director of International distributor Eccho Rights. “As well as our traditionally successful Turkish Drama markets like LATAM and MENA, this series has also opened doors to a number of newer regions for us.”

On the Asian sales Nixon Yau Lim, Head of Asia Pacific at Eccho Rights says: “The Philippines is the latest country betting on Turkish Drama after seeing a growing interest across the region, in Vietnam and Malaysia particularly. This has even worked its way up to China where we have just completed our first deal for a Turkish feature film, as new channels are eager to test out this hugely successful genre.” Delibal, a 2015 romantic feature length movie also from Ay Yapim, has been picked up by BlueMedia Times for broadcast in China.

Eccho Rights seals new deals for Beneath the Surface

Eccho Rights has secured multiple international broadcast deals for the premium Turkish mini-series Beneath the Surface, a tightly paced thriller produced by Karga Seven Pictures as a TOD Original and now licensed across Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and Israel.

Telecom Argentina has acquired the series for its channels in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. In MENA, Abu Dhabi TV has secured free-to-air rights across 23 territories, while in Israel the series has been picked up by Dori Media. Alshana in Morocco has also acquired local rights to the series.

Handan Özkubat, Director of Sales at Eccho Rights, commented: “Beneath the Surface perfectly illustrates the global appeal of premium Turkish drama with A-list talent and a strong creative vision. Its compact episode run and cinematic storytelling make it ideal for international broadcasters, and these deals with linear channels clearly show that shorter run Turkish series are not limited to VOD platforms internationally, but can perform very successfully on free and pay television when the content is right.”

Eccho Rights brings "Another Chance" to international markets

Eccho Rights has acquired the international distribution rights to the new Turkish drama series Another Chance (Vicdansiz), the latest original series for streaming platform TOD.

Created by screenwriter Levent Cantek (Yesilcam) and directed by Devrim Yalçın (First and Last), Another Chance is a contemporary, emotionally charged drama exploring ambition, love and the cost of second chances. The series is produced by ARC Film for beIN Media Group-owned streaming platform TOD in Turkey & MENA.

Handan Özkubat, Head of Drama at Eccho Rights, commented: “Another Chance is a bold, character-driven series that combines emotional depth with a high-concept premise and universal themes of love, regret and redemption. It is a title with strong creative identity and clear international potential, and we received great feedback as we previewed it for buyers at last month’s Content Americas.”

Deniz is an ambitious investment executive who believes success justifies every sacrifice. He is in love with Vicdan, the embodiment of genuine love and moral clarity in his life, but after a sudden car crash, she vanishes without a trace. No one remembers her, as if she never existed, her disappearance begins to fracture reality itself. Time slips, identities blur, and Deniz is ultimately left with a dilemma: when fate offers you another chance at love, can you let go of everything you once believed mattered?
