Raft of Swedish dramas sells to the Far East

Eccho Rights has secured deals for several top Swedish drama titles to broadcasters and platforms in Japan and South Korea. TVing in South Korea has acquired THREESOME, LOVE ME and HONOUR for its expanding line up of international content. And in Japan, WOWOW has picked up the blue-sky crime drama HAMMARVIK, joining HONOUR, which was acquired during the summer.

TVing is the latest major international platform to bet on THREESOME, after deals with Channel 4 (UK), CANAL+ (France) and RTL (Germany) were all announced last month for the Yellow Bird-produced series. The young-adult relationship drama premiered across the Nordics on NENT Group’s streamer Viaplay in August 2021.

“THREESOME has established itself as one of our most in-demand properties, since winning universal critical acclaim in Sweden after its release earlier this year,” says Nicola Söderlund, Managing partner at Eccho Rights.

HONOUR (produced by Bigster) continues its remarkable international journey, now sold into more than 60 territories worldwide. The third season of the female-led legal thriller is currently shooting in Stockholm, slated for a spring 2022 release on Viaplay. HAMMARVIK (Nordisk Film & TV), created exclusively for television by multi-million selling novelist Camilla Läckberg, is one of NENT Group’s most successful titles of all time, watched by record audiences on both TV3 and streamer Viaplay. Season three of the blue-sky crime drama premieres 12th December on Viaplay. Romantic comedy-drama LOVE ME (Warner Bros. International), as well as breaking viewing records for Viaplay, has won a number of awards, including Sweden’s most prestigious television prize Kristallen, for Best TV Drama in 2020.
