Star TV renews Ömer & Golden Boy
Hit Turkish drama series Ömer and Golden Boy, produced by OGM pictures, will both be returning for a second season in the Autumn, having been renewed by broadcaster Star TV.
Ömer launched in January 2023, and has performed impressively, particularly in the AB commercial demo, where the series regularly ranks at number one in the ratings and more than doubles Star’s average share.
Golden Boy, since launching in September 2022, has maintained its position as the most watched drama series across all channels each week in Turkey, with audiences regularly in excess of 10 million each Friday for the romantic drama. The series has now been licensed to more than 40 territories worldwide, with many more deals currently in the works.
“The success of these two series reflects that romantic dramas remain a top draw for audiences. But both of these series come with a twist on the traditional love story setups, that elevate them into must see primetime viewing,” says Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights.

TURKISH DRAMA SISTERHOOD TO ITALY
Distributor Eccho Rights has closed the first deal for Turkish series Sisterhood, produced by Surec Film, selling it to Mediaset in Italy. The powerful drama evolves around three young very different women, who find out that they are sisters just before tragedy strikes and changes their lives forever.
Ipek is finalizing her wedding plans when she is stunned to receive an anonymous letter telling her she has two sisters she never knew. Coming to terms with the fact that she was adopted, she invites her two newfound siblings to the ceremony. During their wedding night, her husband violently attacks Ipek and she calls her sisters for help. In a desperate defense attempt, the young women kill Tekin and suddenly find themselves at the center of a murder cover-up. The show premiered last year on Star TV in Turkey to great results.
“Turkish Drama is becoming increasingly popular in Italy and we are excited to close our first deal for this emotional story. It balances the central love story and the surrounding family drama in a perfect way,” says Nicola Söderlund, Managing Partner at Eccho Rights
