SILVER SPOON PICKED UP FOR REMAKE IN KOREA

South Korean producer Supermoon Pictures has acquired remake rights for Silver Spoon, the hit Russian crime thriller from Sreda Production Company. This is the first time a Russian drama format has been picked up for adaptation in South Korea.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Russian drama and concluded that this story and characters will translate well as a Korean remake,” says Mr Insoo Shin, CEO of Supermoon Pictures.

Silver Spoon is the story of a young man, Igor, whose father grows tired of his playboy lifestyle and arranges a job for him in the police force. Though Igor is lazy, spoiled and unmotivated, he shows an instinct for detective work and soon starts to unravel mysteries that have long evaded his colleagues - including the case of his own mother’s death, where his investigations turn up uncomfortable questions for his father.

Eccho Rights repping Trotsky worldwide

Trotsky, the new 8-part series from Russian Sreda Production Company will be launched this Mipcom, with Eccho Rights distributing the title worldwide.

A big budget historical epic produced for Channel One in Russia to mark the centenary of the Russian Revolution, Trotsky will have its world premiere at Mipcom with a gala screening in the Grand Auditorium at Palais des Festivals in Cannes on Tuesday 17th October.

The series charts the rise of Trotsky and his integral role in the October Revolution of 1917, through to his exile in Mexico. The story is told from his own perspective in the form of a confessional testament that he hopes will be his last chance to exact revenge on Stalin who so cruelly betrayed him.

“Trotsky is an epic production that we are very proud to be representing,” says Nicola Söderlund, Managing Partner of Eccho Rights. “Trotsky’s story is fascinating and with so much attention on the centenary of the Russian Revolution this year, we have already seen huge interest in the series.”
