Golden Boy picked up across LATAM

Hit Turkish drama series Golden Boy has been picked up by several broadcasters across Latin America, with more deals set to be completed during next week’s LA Screenings.

The series has now been acquired for US Hispanic and Paraguay (Telefuturo), Mexico (Imagen), and Panama (Telemetro + RPC). Golden Boy was first picked up in LATAM by Mega in Chile who completed a deal for the series during this year’s Content Americas event in January.

“Buyers are queueing up for what is the biggest Turkish drama sensation we have seen for many years. With several more deals in late stage negotiations, we expect to have at least a dozen LATAM countries closed following LA Screenings,” says Barbora Suster, Head of Latin America and Iberia at international distributor Eccho Rights.

The title scored a number of breakthrough international sales, including becoming the first Turkish drama to air on free-to-air TV in the MENA region since a blanket ban on Turkish productions in 2018. Golden Boy also recently became the first Turkish drama ever picked up for broadcast in Finland (MTV Oy/C More), and also the first such title licensed by a commercial broadcaster in Sweden (TV4).

New Bride on the way to LATAM

New Bride is on its way across LATAM after deals concluded by Eccho Rights with Imagen in Mexico, and the Albavision network covering the whole of Central America. The long running series has been a stand out performer for two years in Turkey, and internationally has scored great ratings particularly in Kazakhstan where New Bride doubled the average share of channel TV7 during its broadcast.

The series - a warm, romantic drama with a light comic side, produced by Sürec Film - has been a huge hit with Turkish viewers, the highest rating scripted show in Saturday prime time throughout it’s first two seasons on Show TV. The third season arrived recently, with New Bride resuming its position at the top of the drama charts.
