Eccho Rights have added brand new drama series THE RED ROOM to its distribution catalogue. Produced by OGM Pictures in Turkey, THE RED ROOM debuted on TV8 on Friday 4th September, topping the ratings in the AB commercial demo with 19% share. Producer Onur Günetanam says "In this series, we will show our audience the effects of childhood experiences, and the way they can shape our future. We are against all physical, sexual and psychological violence. But no country in the world can prevent violence with laws because violence is a bad behaviour, acquired during childhood, that turns into a habit over time.”

The Red Room stars Binnur Kaya, Tülin Özen, Burak Sevinç, Meriç Aral, Halit Özgür Sarı and is directed by Cem Karcı.

ECCHO RIGHTS BRINGS THE PROMISE AND NORTH STAR IN LATIN AMERICA

Eccho Rights has sold record-breaking Turkish daily drama THE PROMISE and hit romance NORTH STAR to territories across Latin America: Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay and Bolivia.

“We are happy to see an interest from clients and audiences for more daily drama from Turkey. WOUNDED BIRDS has performed very well in Colombia and Puerto Rico lately, and we are sure THE PROMISE will perform as well as it has done in Turkey, where it broke several records and had better results than a number of high budget weekly dramas. We also have high hopes for NORTH STAR, a touching drama with just the right amount of humour that has developed into a massive audience favourite in Turkey”, says Barbora Suster, Head of Latin America and Iberia at Eccho Rights.

Produced by Karamel Yapim for Kanal 7, THE PROMISE has been one of the most successful Turkish series of the past two years, finishing its first season with record-breaking results, a second season just wrapped and a third currently in pre-production.

NORTH STAR is one of the leading series on Saturday nights since its launch last year on Show TV. It is produced by Sürec Film and has consistently won its time slot in the total audience demographic group.

TURKISH DRAMA MOTHER TO SWEDEN

Eccho Rights have concluded a deal with Swedish public broadcaster SVT to place Medyapim drama series MOTHER in what is now a well-established Turkish Drama slot on SVT2. The series will air daily at 7.30pm starting in the autumn of 2020. This follows the earlier successes of Turkish series such as The End, Broken Pieces and Brave and Beautiful in Sweden. MOTHER is based on the Japanese series of the same name, a highly acclaimed and award-winning production, originally created in 2010 for Nippon TV. The Medyapim remake scored huge ratings for Star TV in Turkey during the 2016-17 season. Outside of Sweden the series is distributed by Global Agency worldwide.

“We first brought Turkish Drama to SVT in 2013 with The End and it created a great buzz. Sweden was the first Western European nation to take a bet on Turkish content and we feel proud of our role in creating what is now a regular daily slot for the national broadcaster. Moreover, in the years since that first deal, more and more channels and platforms across Europe have seen the power of having Turkish Drama in their schedules,” says Fredrik af Malmborg, Managing Director of Eccho Rights.
