Threesome licensed to SBS in Australia

Eccho Rights have sealed a deal with SBS in Australia for critically acclaimed Swedish young adult drama THREESOME. The series will air on SBS VICELAND and the SBS On Demand service.

Produced by Yellow Bird for Nordic Entertainment Group streamer Viaplay, THREESOME has now been sold to a string of major international broadcasters including Channel 4 (UK), RTL (Germany), CANAL+ (France) and TVing (South Korea).

K Drama package headed to Nordics

Eccho Rights have concluded deals with Sweden’s TV4 and Finland's MTV3 for a package of premium Korean Drama series. Both broadcasters have picked up three action-packed thrillers from Eccho Rights, TRAP and STRANGERS FROM HELL produced by CJ ENM, and TAXI DRIVER from SBS. TV4 and MTV3 become the first local broadcasters in their respective countries to acquire South Korean content.

Eccho Rights sells OGM Turkish Dramas to beIN

Eccho Rights has made an agreement with Middle Eastern media group beIN for two Turkish Drama series produced by OGM Pictures, THE RED ROOM and MY HOME MY DESTINY.

THE RED ROOM, currently airing its second season on Turkey’s TV8, is a psychological drama set in a therapist’s office. The title has been a huge breakthrough in Turkish Drama for the past year, scoring massive ratings each week to conquer Friday night prime time and setting the agenda for deep discussions all over the media and online, as the show raises important questions on topics such as domestic violence and mental health.

MY HOME MY DESTINY is the smash hit romance from 2020 that broke viewing records for a drama series on Turkey’s TV8. Also produced by OGM Pictures, the series is led by two of Turkey’s biggest international drama stars Demet Özdemir and İbrahim Çelikkol.

Raft of Swedish dramas sells to the Far East

Eccho Rights has secured deals for several top Swedish drama titles to broadcasters and platforms in Japan and South Korea. TVing in South Korea has acquired THREESOME, LOVE ME and HONOUR for its expanding line up of international content. And in Japan, WOWOW has picked up the blue-sky crime drama HAMMARVIK, joining HONOUR, which was acquired during the summer.

TVing is the latest major international platform to bet on THREESOME, after deals with Channel 4 (UK), CANAL+ (France) and RTL (Germany) were all announced last month for the Yellow Bird-produced series. The young-adult relationship drama premiered across the Nordics on NENT Group’s streamer Viaplay in August 2021.

“THREESOME has established itself as one of our most in-demand properties, since winning universal critical acclaim in Sweden after its release earlier this year,” says Nicola Söderlund, Managing partner at Eccho Rights.

HONOUR (produced by Bigster) continues its remarkable international journey, now sold into more than 60 territories worldwide. The third season of the female-led legal thriller is currently shooting in Stockholm, slated for a spring 2022 release on Viaplay. HAMMARVIK (Nordisk Film & TV), created exclusively for television by multi-million selling novelist Camilla Läckberg, is one of NENT Group’s most successful titles of all time, watched by record audiences on both TV3 and streamer Viaplay. Season three of the blue-sky crime drama premieres 12th December on Viaplay. Romantic comedy-drama LOVE ME (Warner Bros. International), as well as breaking viewing records for Viaplay, has won a number of awards, including Sweden’s most prestigious television prize Kristallen, for Best TV Drama in 2020.

Eccho Rights presents Hidden

Eccho Rights have sealed a deal with Turkish production house OJO Pictures to represent the upcoming drama series Hidden on the International market.

The series (original title Annemizi Saklarken) stars Hande Doğandemir (The Red Room) and popular Turkish actor-musician Kutsi, and will premiere 8th December on Star TV.

Hidden is the story of a vain and shallow single mother, who thinks she has found the man of her dreams, but later realises she has crossed paths with a dangerous sociopath. Each has a reason to maintain this relationship, but at what cost - and how many secrets must they keep from each other?

The series is written by Sırma Yanık the writer behind some of Turkey’s most successful drama exports including Mrs Fazilet and Her Daughters and The Girl Named Feriha.

Threesome sells to UK, Germany and France

Eccho Rights has closed deals with three major European broadcasters for Swedish drama series Threesome. Channel 4 - for its free streaming service, All 4 - in the UK, RTL Passion in Germany and CANAL+ in France have all picked up the Yellow Bird-produced drama, which launched earlier this year on Nordic Entertainment Group’s Viaplay. Winning universal acclaim from critics, THREESOME ranks as the highest scoring Swedish drama ever according to review aggregator

Telling the story of a young Swedish couple living in London and going through fundamental changes in their once perfect relationship, Threesome stars a young international cast including Matilda Källström, Simon Lööf (Sweden), Lucien Laviscount (UK) and Blue is the Warmest Colour’s Alma Jodorowsky (France). The series is written and directed by Lisa Linnertorp.

Eccho Rights brings Chrysalis to OSN

Middle Eastern broadcast group OSN has acquired Chrysalis, the hit Turkish Drama series.

Chrysalis, currently airing its second season on Kanal D, is the number one rating series across the entire week in Turkey in the AB commercial demo, winning a very competitive slot on Thursday nights in all categories.

OSN becomes the latest major international media group to acquire the series, and will broadcast and stream the title across the entire MENA region. “We are proud to acquire Chrysalis and to be the first Middle Eastern media group to exclusively broadcast this title across the region. Eccho Rights teams with LA Productions and Channel 5 in UK

Eccho Rights is partnering with LA Productions and Channel 5 in the UK to co-produce and distribution Compulsion, a 4 x 60 thriller written by Sarah Deane (Moving On, Clink) and directed by Noreen Kershaw (Call the Midwife, Pitching In, Our Girl). Colin McKeown will serve as Executive Producer for LA Productions with Donna Molloy producing. Adam Barth and Nicola Söderlund are Executive Producers for Eccho Rights.

Leading the cast of Compulsion is Leanne Best (Young Wallander, Cold Feet) as Jenny, and Anna Chancellor (Pennyworth, The Watch) as Sasha. The gripping four part series follows paramedic Jenny, who after a fatal train crash develops a gambling addition to try to cope with her PTSD. Heavily in debt to some dangerous people, help arrives in the form of a good Samaritan Sasha, who offers Jenny a way out. However, Sasha has her own agenda, one which will ultimately force Jenny to take the biggest gamble of her life. For her life. Hayley Mills (Pollyanna, Pitching In) also stars as Connie Bertram; a fearsome loan shark who holds Jenny’s fate in her hands.
