SVT PICKS UP BRAVE AND BEAUTIFUL
The 2017 series caused a storm in the international market when it was revealed, starring Turkey’s two most globally renowned actors in the romantic lead roles, Tuba Büyüküstün and Kivanc Tatlitug, and in 2018 Brave and Beautiful was nominated in the Best Telenovela category at the International Emmy Awards.
International distributor Eccho Rights has now completed deals for the series in over 80 territories around the world, and it becomes the latest acquisition for a very popular Turkish Drama slot on SVT 2.
HONOUR PRE-SOLD TO TVNOW
The Swedish thriller is produced by Bigster for Viaplay. The series has already pre-sold to Belgian public service broadcaster VRT ahead of its Noridc premiere scheduled for autumn 2019.
Now Mediengruppe RTL has acquired the series for its new video streaming service TVNOW, where the series will join an exclusive line up of subscription content. “With TVNOW we recently launched a new full-featured and stand-alone streaming service for the mass market to entertain, inform and move people all over Germany. Created by and starring a group of Sweden’s most renowned female actors, Honour follows four partners in a law firm whose reputation is suddenly at stake. The Promise is Eccho Rights' latest hit series
Debuting on Kanal 7 last week, the series scored very strong ratings, reaching a market share more than double that of the broadcaster's average audience. The Promise follows the tortuous romance between a young couple, brought together from different worlds by a vow that each makes: the beautiful Reyhan promises to take care of the family of an old friend who is diagnosed with a terminal illness, while the man she is pledged to marry makes his own promise - to teach his dying father a lesson by sabotaging the marriage.
“This is a heartbreaking, emotional story that will captivate viewers around the world, just as Karamel Yapim’s last hit, Prisoner of Love," says Handan Özkubat, Eccho Rights’ Director of Turkish Drama. Eccho Rights have already completed sales for Prisoner of Love in Poland, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Macedonia and Georgia.
Eccho Rights presents Wounded Birds
The series, which airs later this year on Kanal D, is the story of two orphans on the run from the man that had raised them on the streets, trying to make a new life in Istanbul. They face many dangers, but also opportunities in their new start. But the question remains, can love, hope and determination propel them toward a glorious destiny? Wounded Birds is produced by newly launched prodco Stellar Yapim.
“We are very excited to see the next series from a producer that has enjoyed so much international success already” says Fredrik af Malmborg, Managing Director of Eccho Rights. “Though it is still in pre-production, we have already received a lot of interest for this series as buyers see great value in a high quality daily series.”
