Eccho Rights will distribute Korean Drama series DOOM AT YOUR SERVICE worldwide following an agreement with mother company CJ ENM.

Produced by Studio Dragon and Studio&NEW for CJ ENM, DOOM AT YOUR SERVICE was the biggest drama launch in Korea this Spring and won warm reviews and top ratings at its premiere in May 2021. The series stars two of Korea’s most popular actors Park Bo-young (Oh My Ghost, Abyss) and Seo In-guk (Hundred Million Stars from the Sky), and will conclude its 16 episode run later this month.

The story of Dong-Kyung, a young woman who receives a terminal diagnosis but is offered the chance to fulfil all her dreams in her final 100 days on earth, the series mixes romance and comedy with fantasy, as she starts to fall in love with Doom, the mysterious being that has come to grant her wishes - in return for her soul.

“This is a warm, relatable romantic comedy, that also offers escapism with its fantasy elements during what has been a difficult year for all,” says Deborah Youn, Head of Asia Business at Eccho Rights.

Eccho Rights enter into co-production

Eccho Rights is joining a trio of international production companies in developing a brand new series, One Euro Village. We will be working with German producers Tellux Film, Indiana Production in Italy and Born Wild from the UK on the series created by Born Wild’s founder Anthony Alleyne, with co-writer Matteo Berdini.

One Euro Village is a mockumentary series, following events in a small, provincial Italian town that draws an influx of holiday home developers after it announces the sale of its dilapidated housing stock for €1 each. The problem is, a clerical error results in all the new homeowners coming from German-speaking countries who don’t speak a word of Italian. Inspired by true events that have made international headlines in recent years, the series is a fun and light-hearted look at the juxtaposition of cultures between Germans moving to Italy, and the overall search for a sense of community.

Adam Barth, who joined Eccho earlier this year as Director of Co-productions, Acquisitions, and Development, says “Eccho Rights is evolving the traditional distribution model into a more complex and participative role as a co-producer. We are aiming to provide producers with expertise in funding and packaging of series enabling them to get their shows on air in the most efficient and financially viable way."

New Czech Dramedy script, The Swap

Eccho Rights has entered into an agreement with Czech Republic’s Dramedy Productions to represent the script to hit family drama THE SWAP in the international market.

The story of two families whose lives become impossibly complicated when they discover that their six year old sons were switched at birth, THE SWAP (13 x 60 min) is both an affecting, emotional family drama and also a thrilling mystery as the investigation to find out what happened to the boys throws up all sorts of surprises for both families.

The series aired earlier this year on public broadcaster Česká Televize under local title KUKAČKY proving a major hit with viewers, winning its time slot each week with an average share over 35%.

“This is a very special series with relationships between family, children and difficult moralistic questions at its heart - are the bonds of blood stronger than those that we create ourselves? Do they even matter? And are we better off knowing the truth or simply living the life we are presented with? These are universal questions that we believe will easily find new homes with international adaptation around the world,” says Barbora Suster, Head of Eccho Rights’ Madrid Office and Sales & Acquistions Manager for Czech Republic at Eccho Rights.
