Crack Them up coming to Finland

Crack Them Up, the hit Ukrainian comedy format, has been licensed by Yellow Film & TV in Finland. The team behind a number of hugely successful Finnish series will be producing a run of 10 episodes for Nelonen (Four), going on air in March this year.

The format is one of Ukraine’s favourite entertainment shows, with its 12th season running from September 2016. Hosted by Ukraine’s top comic talent Vladimir Zelensky (Servant Of The People) the series sees amateur stand ups perform for a panel of tough professionals; if they get a laugh out of them they win a cash prize. In Finland the series will be hosted by Elina Kottonen, who just completed hosting the latest season of Got Talent for Nelonen as well. The judges for the show are amongst the most experienced and famous comedians in Finland, both Krisse Salminen and Riku Nieminen are said to be really excited to see what the Finnish people have to offer.

“The joy of this format is that it gives each participant their 5 minutes of fame, and looks to have fun with them. With an infinite pool of fresh talent to choose from - the public - the long term success of the series is secure, so it is no surprise it has thrived for so long in Ukraine. We look forward to a similar story now in Finland,” says Nicola Söderlund, Managing Partner at Eccho Rights who distribute the format internationally.

Milla Bruneau from Yellow Film & TV adds “we are so excited to introduce this format to the Finnish market. We have enjoyed years of success with our own format Comedy Combat, pitching professional comedians against one another in competition, but now it is time for the public to take centre stage! We can’t wait to introduce some new, fresh talent to the Finnish audience.”

The format has previously been a big success internationally, airing in Russia, China, Vietnam and Lithuania as well as being optioned in many more territories.
