Eccho Rights recruits in Seoul

Eccho Rights is strengthening its Asian team with the recruitment of Deborah Youn, Distribution and Business Development Executive, to be based in a newly established office in Seoul, Korea.

Deborah comes from iMBC where, as Sales Manager, she has been responsible for global distribution and digital licensing of MBC content, as well as acquisition of English language programming for Korean OTT platforms.

"I am delighted to be joining Eccho Rights at this crucial and exciting time for Korean content. Eccho Rights has been at the forefront of globalizing compelling dramas and I feel honored to have a hand in realizing the local and global ambitions of the team," says Youn.

Deborah will be responsible for sales of the Eccho catalogue into Korea as well as developing relationships with Korean producers and platforms.

"We are very happy to welcome Deborah in to our team. We believe strongly in the Korean market, both as a source for readymade hits but also as a market for format adaptations. Deborah has a unique understanding of the Korean market as well as digital platforms, and will be a very strong addition to our team," says Nixon Yau Lim, Head of Asia Pacific at Eccho Rights.

The recruitment comes in a phase where Eccho Rights is developing its worldwide business at a rapid speed. Based on a strong presence in the Turkish drama market, Eccho Rights has expanded its global team to support increasing success when representing top producers from around the world. In recent years the independent distributor has licensed more than 2000 hours into the Asian market, and also adapted a number of scripted series in the region, most recently Amla, the Indian version of Ay Yapim’s Turkish hit Fatmagul which started a run on Star Plus this month. Eccho Rights has also been at the forefront of licensing Korean scripted formats worldwide, including Ice Adonis from CJ Group which was a hit remake in Ukraine, with more adaptations coming soon in Turkey.
